Seized greyhounds graduate with GAP green collars
Eight greyhounds that were seized by RSPCA Inspectors and transferred to the Queensland Racing Integrity Commission (QRIC) Greyhound Adoption Program (GAP) facilities at Churchable have all passed their green collar assessments ready for adoption.
Racing Integrity Commissioner Ross Barnett said the GAP team took on the eight greyhounds when the RSPCA seized them from a Coominya property last month.
“Since they arrived at GAP the team has cared for them and put them through the GAP green collar assessment program and each one has come through with flying colours.
“We are very happy to say that they will make great pets just like all of the greyhounds who graduate through our program.
“The Commission has had a close association with the RSPCA since our commencement and this is a great example of that and being able to re-home these greyhounds who needed our help shows the value of the QRIC GAP.
RSPCA Qld spokesperson Michael Beatty said RSPCA Qld is delighted to hear that all eight greyhounds that were transferred to GAP after being seized from a property in Coominya have passed their behavioural and veterinary assessments and are now ready to be rehomed.
“Knowing that these beautiful dogs now have the chance to live out their lives in a loving home is fantastic and very rewarding for us,” Mr Beatty said.
“It is always our goal to rehome all seized animals and often we seek assistance from other groups to help make this possible.
“We are grateful for the assistance that GAP has provided the RSPCA with the care and ultimately the rehoming of these greyhounds.
“Greyhounds make great pets, so we would encourage anyone looking for a new companion to consider adopting a greyhound.”
The RSPCA dogs are now on the GAP website for adoption.
