CANCELLED: GAP Open Day at Churchable Kennels
IMPORTANT NOTICE: Unfortunately, we have had to cancel this weekend’s event with more rain forecast – the conditions won’t be ideal for the day’s festivities.
If you were hoping to meet some of our greyhounds at Churchable, you can still submit an application form outlining your lifestyle and family situation: https://gapqld.com.au/our-greyhounds/adoption-process/. Our GAP team will then be in touch to arrange a meet and greet. Prearranged adoption meet and greets are possible at the Churchable facility (by appointment) or you may wish to attend the next GAP event at Albion.
Our next South East Queensland event, Homeward Hounds, will take place on Saturday, 12 April, in Albion. You’ll have the chance to meet some of our adoptable greyhounds, chat with the GAP team about adoption and fostering and, attend our greyhound health care and first aid talk (which was originally planned for the Open Day). Plus, we are also extending the offer of all adoptions during the April Homeward Hounds event to receive a free bag of dog food and a GAP adoption bag.

Celebrated annually throughout the month of April, National Greyhound Adoption Month is dedicated to helping retired racing greyhounds find loving homes. Greyhounds make wonderful companions – they are loyal, affectionate and are looking to become part of your family.
To mark the occasion, we’re inviting you to our GAP Open Day at Churchable Kennels! Whether you’re meeting your pre-matched greyhound or looking for the perfect companion on the day, we’re here to help you find your new best friend.
Join us for:
Kennel tours – 45 minutes
Take a guided tour of our kennel facility to see firsthand what makes these dogs so special.
– Tour 1: 9:30am
– Tour 2: 10:30am
Health chat with our GAP experts – 30 minutes
Learn about greyhound health care and first aid from our GAP health care experts. Each family registered to attend will receive a free mini first aid kit.
– Session 1: 10:30am
– Session 2: 11:30am

Be one of the first 25 families to register to attend the event and receive a free GAP greyhound starter kit (to be collected on the day at the event). Come along, learn more and, maybe you could find your newest family member at GAP Churchable.

As much as we love dogs, our facility can’t accommodate additional dogs onsite on the day of the event. So, please leave your dog at home (unless you are attending a pre-matched meet and greet).
Greyhound adoptions
We’re offering both pre-matched and on the day adoptions.
Pre-matched meet and greets:
- Complete our online adoption form before the event, telling us about your home and lifestyle. We’re keen to make sure we can find you and your family the perfect match.
- The GAP team will review your application and match you with greyhound/s that best suit your needs.
- Then, all that’s left to do is meet your potential new best friend at the event.
On the day adoptions
- Take photos of your backyard and fencing to help us process your application on the day.
- Join us at the event and chat with the GAP team about your family, home, and lifestyle.
- We’ll introduce you to some of our adoptable greyhounds, and if you meet a greyhound you just can’t leave without, you can complete an application and adopt on the day.
Remember you’ll need photos of your backyard and fencing. We’ll help you complete the necessary paperwork on the day of the meet and greet.
FAQs:
Q: Can I bring my greyhound or other dogs along on the day?
A: We ask kindly that: only those who have pre-arranged a meet and greet with a greyhound to bring their dog along. Unfortunately, the GAP kennels cannot accommodate additional dogs onsite.
Q: What time will your facilities open?
A: Gates open at 9am, with the first kennel tour taking place at 9.30am.
Q: Do I need to pre-register to attend the event?
A: Yes. As numbers are capped for the tours, we kindly ask for you to pre-register your attendance, selecting which tour and session you will be attending and advising of how many people will be attending with you.
