Host A Hound for the Holidays

Host a Hound for the Holidays program is back – Applications now open!

Ever wondered what life with a greyhound is really like? This Christmas, why not find out for yourself!

Applications are open to host a GAP greyhound guest for the holiday season.

We're looking for caring families to welcome a GAP greyhound guest into their home for at least 6 weeks from mid-December. It's the perfect opportunity to experience the joy of greyhound companionship while helping an adoptable hound take an important step towards finding their forever home.

Whether you're considering adoption in the future or simply want to make a difference in the short term, the Host a Hound program offers a rewarding and unforgettable experience.

Your greyhound guest will be carefully matched to your household and will be ready for collection on Saturday 19 December in Capalaba, or at an earlier date (as agreed upon with the GAP team) from our GAP Churchable kennels.

Applications are now open until Monday 30 November. The GAP team will contact you after they have assessed your application.

Before submitting your expression of interest, please note the following terms and conditions

1. GAP will provide the food, bedding, basics and veterinary care while the greyhound is being fostered.
2. A suitable greyhound may not be available for your family's situation.
3. Cat-friendly greyhounds are not available for this program.
4. South-East Queensland region only.
5. We would love people who are available from mid-December for at least 6 weeks.
6. Greyhounds to be collected from either Capalaba on Saturday 19 December or from our Churchable kennels prior to this date, and returned to our Churchable kennels - unless you decide to adopt. Alternative drop-off location and date can be discussed with the GAP Team upon application.
7. For families with additional dogs, you will be required to bring them to the meet and greet at our Churchable kennels before accepting your GAP greyhound guest.
8. Email us your fun greyhound’s vacation photos and videos to GAPTeam@qric.qld.gov.au or tag us on our socials @GAPQld.
