Meet our greyhounds
Why greyhounds?
What is the GAP?
Fully funded by the Queensland Government, the GAP is part of the Queensland Racing Integrity Commission and is dedicated to finding suitable homes for retired greyhounds. The GAP team work with the racing industry to guide them in preparing their racing greyhounds for retirement. Every greyhound in the program is health checked and behaviourally assessed, de-sexed, wormed and vaccinated. The program aims to help transition greyhounds from racing to pet life.
What is the QRIC?
The Queensland Racing Integrity Commission (QRIC, the Commission) is tasked with overseeing integrity and animal welfare in the three codes of racing: greyhound, harness and thoroughbred. The Commission was established on 1 July 2016 as a result of the MacSporran Commission of inquiry. The Commission provides regulatory oversight at all Queensland race meetings including stewarding, vet services and sample collections.
