Come along and meet some glorious greyhounds who are searching for their forever families. Spend some time getting to know these gentle souls, enjoy plenty of pats and cuddles, and discover which long snoot might be your perfect match.

Have a chat with the GAP team, learn more about greyhound adoption, and who knows… you might just meet the greyhound who turns your house into a home!

If you fall head over paws, same-day adoptions are available (please bring along photos of your property’s fences gates and outdoor areas), or simply fill out an adoption application form ahead of time to be pre-approved.

⏰ 9:30am: Greyhound Walk
Grab your lead and join us for a leisurely walk around Leslie Patrick Park with your greyhound/s! It’s a great opportunity to meet fellow greyhound lovers, enjoy some social time and let your hound explore new surroundings and exciting enrichment smells along the way.

Greyhound adoptions

Ready to find your new best friend? Here’s how you can make the most of the day.

Pre-matched meet and greets:

1. Complete our online adoption form before the event, telling us about your home and lifestyle. We’re keen to make sure we can find you and your family the perfect match.
2. The GAP team will review your application and match you with greyhound/s that best suit your need.
3. Then, all that's left to do is meet your potential new best friend at the event.

On the day adoptions

1. Snap some photos of your backyard, access gates and all fencing – this will help us process your application quickly on the spot (viewing from your phone is fine).
2. Come along to the event and have a chat with the friendly GAP team about your family, home and lifestyle.
3. Meet some of our adorable greyhounds! If one of them steals your heart, you can complete an application right then and there.

It’s that simple, and you could be one step closer to welcoming a greyhound into your family!

Remember you’ll need photos of your backyard and fencing. We’ll help you complete the necessary paperwork on the day of the meet and greet.

Please note. If you already have a dog or cat, ‘on the day adoptions’ are not available. The GAP team must first arrange a suitable match and will schedule a meet and greet at another time so your current dog and potential adopted greyhound can meet for the first time. Unfortunately, we are unable to conduct first dog to dog meet and greets at the event. For homes with cats, greyhounds are placed in a foster-to-adopt program to ensure compatibility between the animals.
