HOST A HOUND FOR THE HOLIDAYS UPDATE

We’ve been overwhelmed by the incredible response to our Host a Hound for the Holidays program, thank you to everyone who applied, commented and shared the posts.

We have now reached full capacity for this year, so APPLICATIONS ARE NOW CLOSED. While we had originally planned to accept applications up until December, the huge interest means our holiday hosts are all spoken for.

Are you interested in hosting a GAP greyhound for Christmas?

Applications are now closed to host a GAP greyhound guest over the Christmas period.

Let us know if you would love to welcome a GAP greyhound guest into your family from 20 December 2025 through to January/February 2026.

Your GAP greyhound guest will be matched to your family and be available for pick up at or before our Homeward Hounds event in Capalaba, Brisbane on Saturday 20 December.

Homeward Hounds event details:

Date: Saturday 20 December
Time: 9am – 12pm
Location: Capalaba Greyhound Racing Club, 16 Old Cleveland Road, Capalaba, Queensland 4157

Before submitting your expression of interest, please note the following terms and conditions

  1. GAP will provide the food, bedding, basics and veterinary care while the greyhound is being fostered for Christmas.
  2. A suitable greyhound may not be available for your family’s situation.
  3. Cat-friendly greyhounds are not available for this program.
  4. South-East Queensland region only.
  5. We would love people who are available between 20 December 2025 until at least 5 January 2026.
  6. We would love our greyhounds to be back at our Churchable kennels from 5 January 2026 – unless you decide to adopt! Alternative drop-off location and date can be discussed with the GAP Team upon application.
  7. If you have other dogs, you will be required to bring them to Homeward Hounds or the GAP kennels for a meet and greet before accepting your GAP greyhound guest.
